Example; Variable message signs (VMS)

In October 2006 an agreement was reached with Saab AB regarding the project “AutoDisplay VMS” over a 3 year period with a total cost frame of NOK 19 million, guaranteed by Saab AB. The project was tailored in close cooperation with the Norwegian Public Road Authority and the Swedish Road Authority. Both authorities were represented in the project Reference Group.

The project was targeted to develop Variable Message Sign products for Intelligent Transportation Systems, initially dynamic speed signs. A project group representing technology, system and market know-how was established with personnel a.o. from PolyDisplay, TechnoDisplay, Saab and Combitech. The project had its official kick off in November 2006 and was successfully finalized in June 2009 after a full year field test at a major highway in Sweden and a heavily trafficated urban road in Norway.
